LIPOSUCTION
The total cost for liposuction ranges from $1750 for liposuction of the lower tummy with local anesthesia at Bristol Plastic Surgery Center to about $6000 for circumferential liposuction with general anesthesia at Kingsport Day Surgery Center.
Liposuction removes excess fat. It is frequently done on the tummy, hips, thighs, neck and face. It is often a better option for women than a tummy tuck. Liposuction is not a weight reducing operation. It is not appropriate for patients who are extremely overweight. It may give the illusion that the patient has lost a lot of weight. Patients who are interested in liposuction may call Dr. Bandeian’s office for a consultation. The cost of the consultation is applied to the surgical fee. Dr. Bandeian does liposuction with local anesthesia at Bristol Plastic Surgery Center and with general anesthesia at Kingsport Day Surgery Center. He gives his patients 3 prescriptions: one for antiseptic soap to use before surgery, one for prophylactic antibiotics and one for pain medication. Dr. Bandeian gives his patients a choice of different pain medication as he wants them as comfortable as possible after the surgery.
The operation takes about 1 to 2 hours and is done through a few tiny incisions that, when healed, are barely visible. Patients should have a responsible adult drive them home from the surgery center and stay with them that night. There is usually not much pain. Dr. Bandeian instructs his patients to call him personally on the evening of their surgery to let him know how they are doing. He them checks with them the following day. A girdle is worn for about 4 weeks. The sutures are removed in about 5-7 days. If bruising occurs, it may last from 1 to 2 weeks. Patients may usually return to work a day or two after surgery if their work does not involve strenuous activities. The patient will retain the improvement even with limited weight.
