Serving Patients in Bristol, Kingsport, Tri-Cities, TN-VA and Johnson City, TN

Breast Reduction Cost: The surgical fee is $4000. Anesthesia and operating room fees are extra. The total cost is often covered by medical insurance.

Women who are interested in breast reduction in Bristol, TN may call Bristol plastic surgeon Dr. Bandeian’s office for a consultation. Most medical insurance plans cover the cost of a breast reduction if it is determined that the breast reduction is medically necessary because of back, neck or shoulder pain. Insurance does not cover breast reduction if it is for cosmetic purposes. Although the reduction in the size of your breasts after surgery is impossible to predict, Dr. Bandeian, an experienced Bristol breast reduction surgeon, will give you a rough estimate of how much breast tissue he will remove. He will do your breast reduction at Indian Path Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.

During the breast reduction procedure, you will be put to sleep for your surgery. A nurse anesthetist and an anesthesiologist working together will administer your general anesthesia. The operation takes approximately 2–1/2 to 5 hours. Dr. Bandeian gives his Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City, Tri-Cities, TN-VA and Elizabethton breast lift patients 3 prescriptions: one for antiseptic soap to use before surgery, one for prophylactic antibiotics and one for pain medication. Dr. Bandeian gives his patients a choice of different pain medication, because he wants his patients to be as comfortable as possible after the surgery.

Dr. Bandeian prefers to have his patients spend one night in the hospital after their breast reduction. There will be a scar around the areola (colored skin around the nipple), a vertical scar from the 6 o’clock position of the areola extending to the crease beneath the breast and a scar along the fold beneath the breast. The nipple will be raised to the correct position on the chest wall. There is usually no loss of sensation in the nipples. Dr. Bandeian sees his patients in the hospital on the day after surgery and several times thereafter. He usually instructs his patients to start wearing a good support bra, a few days after the surgery. He instructs his patients not to drive a car or do any house work for the first 7 days after the surgery. The stitches are left in for about 10 to 14 days. Most women return to work in about 1 to 2 weeks. After the first week, patients can lift up to 10 pounds; thereafter, they can lift 10 additional pounds each week. Swimming, tennis, and upper body aerobics should be avoided until 6 weeks after surgery. Breast reduction will cause some scarring of the breast tissue. Therefore, you should get a base line mammogram about 6 months after your surgery.

In addition to performing breast reduction surgery, Dr. Bandeian also provides effective surgery for Bristol breast lift and breast reduction patients.
