SPIDER VEIN REMOVAL

            Patients who want to have their spider veins removed may come in for a consultation with Dr. Bandeian. Connie will do the actual treatment, which is called sclerotherapy. Connie injects a concentrated salt solution into the veins. The small red veins usually disappear at the time of the treatment. The larger blue veins may take a few weeks to go away. Any bruising that may occur usually clears in 3 weeks. The only restrictions after the procedure are to avoid sun exposure for 2 days. Sometimes, only one session is necessary. Some women may require several sessions. No special bandages or treatments are needed after the procedure. Dr. Bandeian believes that sclerotherapy is better than any laser for treating spider veins. There is no need for any particular interval between treatments of the spider veins. Most women tolerate the treatment without any pain medication. However, pain medication is available when necessary.
