NECK LIFT

            A neck lift tightens the skin of the neck. A neck lift is appropriate for patients whose main problem is loose skin on the neck, not on the face. Patients who are interested in a neck lift may call Dr. Bandeian’s office for a consultation. The cost of the consultation is applied to the surgical fee. Dr. Bandeian does neck lifts at Bristol Plastic Surgery Center with local anesthesia. Dr. Bandeian gives his patients 3 prescriptions: one for antiseptic soap to use before surgery, one for prophylactic antibiotics and one for pain medication. Dr. Bandeian gives his patients a choice of different pain medication, because he wants his patients to be as comfortable as possible after the surgery.

The operation takes about 2 hours to do. A small incision under the chin is made that is usually very inconspicuous. The operation usually involves excising some neck skin, liposuction on the neck and jaw line, and some muscle work. After the surgery, a chinstrap is applied. Patients should have a responsible adult drive them home from the surgery center and stay with them on the night of their surgery. There is minimal pain from the surgery.  Dr. Bandeian instructs his patients to call him personally on the evening of their surgery to let him know how they are doing. Dr. Bandeian checks his patients on the first post-operative day. Sutures are removed about 5-7 days after the surgery. Bruising may last from 1 to 2 weeks.  Patients should wear the chinstrap for about 3 weeks after the surgery. Patients may return to work the day after the surgery or stay out longer if they do not want to wear the chinstrap at work.
